Everything You Need to Know About SANOS

Our History

The Health Corporation Assured by Our Solidarity Organization, Inc. (SANOS) is a non-profit organization that offers integrated physical and mental health services to the population of Caguas and the Eastern Central Region of Puerto Rico. It was incorporated in May 2005 as a non-profit corporation in accordance with the General Corporation Law and the Autonomous Municipalities Law, as amended. SANOS accepts all government health plans (Vital) and most private medical and Advantage plans. It also has a contract with FHCHS of Puerto Rico to offer mental health and substance abuse services. It is the only provider in the Eastern Central Region to comprehensively provide physical and behavioral health services.

The services are provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of General Practitioners, Internists, Pediatricians, Gynecologists, Nurses, Nutritionists, Social Workers, Health Educators, Substance Abuse Counselors, Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and Case Managers. Vaccination services are offered to children and adult beneficiaries of the Health Reform, as well as those with private health insurance, Medicare, “Advantage,” and health certificates. The SANOS Corporation receives federal funds from Section 330 of the Public Health Law to offer health services to all residents of public housing projects, homeless individuals in the city of Caguas, and uninsured patients.

This allows uninsured individuals who have not qualified for the Government Health Plan to benefit from SANOS services by paying according to their income and family composition. SANOS is part of the Primary Health Association of Puerto Rico, which encompasses the 330 centers in Puerto Rico.

Vision, Mission and Values

SANOS Corporation is and will be a community health center. It is the community that we serve and our commitment is based on the basic community elements, the importance of the family in society, our grandparents and the good relationship that must exist between young and old to face the events of the present. The collective and community welfare is obtained from the small positive changes in search of peace, harmony, tolerance and forgiveness that each individual makes with the hope of a better future.

HEALTHY is also science and from this clinical perspective based on knowledge and updated information to make decisions based on evidence, we will be more successful. Scientific evidence highlights the relevance of a positive, reciprocal patient-provider experience. This experience leads to better outcomes, greater satisfaction, time savings, lower risk, stress and burnout. It is also the key to identifying and addressing needs as well as opportunities for change that promote the health and quality of life of our people.

As an organization, we are committed to continue perfecting this analogy between community and science, to continue adopting technology that contributes to health care, but above all to listen, to observe and to give our full attention to those who entrust us with the privilege of being able to help them.
